The long-awaited second-generation Volvo XC60 luxury SUV (2018 model year) is finally here! This model replaces a popular car that has been one of the most popular in the midsize SUV category for nine years since its introduction. The new Volvo premiered at the Geneva Motor Show on March 7, 2017.
Technology of Volvo XC60 2017 – the future of safety
The new Volvo XC60 is one of the safest cars this carmaker has yet produced. It excels in safety thanks to the City Safety system for city driving, a collision warning system for oncoming traffic in the adjacent lane and a blind-spot monitoring information system. Drivers enjoy the Pilot Assist semi-autonomous driving system, which is an option. The system takes charge of steering, accelerating and braking on well-marked roads at speeds of up to 130 km/h.
As far as entertainment goes, the car is equipped with a high-quality Bowers and Wilkins audio system that provides an intense listening experience with perfectly clear air. For your comfort, the car is equipped with an air suspension that strikes a balance between comfort and handling.
Design – Scandinavian style
The new XC60 is an SUV that is designed to comfortably serve its driver. It represents the latest evolution of the Swedish dynamic SUV. Its exterior has an athletic, robust shape. Its most striking features include a long bonnet, muscular fender trims and short overhangs. Equally striking are the Thor’s Hammer-shaped headlights, which serve as a defining feature of the model.
The interior combines advanced technological equipment with design features that stand out for the materials used (wood, original metal materials) and beautifully detailed details that are in keeping with the Scandinavian design sensibility. At the centre of the interior is a touchscreen display that communicates with the driver in an intuitive and natural way.
Motorization of Volvo XC60 2017
The range of powertrains includes a 190hp D4 diesel engine, a D5 diesel unit with PowerPulse technology and 235hp. There will also be a 254bhp T5 petrol engine, as well as a supercharged and turbocharged T6 unit, which develops 320bhp and 400Nm of maximum torque. The cutting edge powertrain will be the T8 Twin Engine plug-in hybrid unit with an electric motor on the rear axle and a total output of 299 kW (407 hp), which excels in its combination of power, efficiency and low emissions. It offers acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.3 seconds.
