Opel Corsa 2019

After 40 years and more than 14 million copies sold, Volksvagen Polo’s biggest rival Opel Corsa has undergone significant changes. The 6th generation bears the designation F and exudes the precision of German engineering despite Opel joining the PSA concern (Stellantis today),

The new 2019 Opel Corsa shows that it can go beyond German cities and still keep high level of comfort and handling. In some ways it resembles the Peugeot 208, but retains its Opel identity and doesn’t have the need for extravagance or fanciness.

Opel was transferred to the PSA group (Stellantis), which is the parent company of Peugeot and Citröen. This was reflected in significant changes to the car’s production programme. One of the most striking innovations is the presence of five doors instead of three. Another big change is the noticeably reduced weight of the car, which is around 1000 kg. The car is longer and offers a more spacious boot. However, compared to the previous generation there is no heated windscreen.

The exterior of the 2019 Opel Corsa is neither aggressive nor flashy, but neither is it bland. Its styling is more subtle and does not lack dynamism and sharpness. The interior doesn’t surprise either. It maintains a conservative look – everything is easily accessible in a place where one would expect it. The downsides are uncomfortable headrests, reduced rear seat space and a small rear door that doesn’t make getting in quite as easy.

The 2019 Opel Corsa has a perfectly cooperating engine and transmission. It can be dynamic to drive, but even in demanding conditions it maintains a fuel consumption of up to 6 l/100 km, slightly above 8 l/100 km in sporty driving. It is available in 5 petrol and diesel engine options. You can have the car equipped with a lot of assistance systems. A nice plus point may be the LED Matrix headlights, which are definitely not standard in this price range.

All this for a very sensible price, starting at €13,400.
